Currently brewing my next steps
Whether this title makes you think of beer or witchcraft, either would be fine, this is as clear as I get when it comes to knowing what my next steps will be. I am confidently uncertain about where my career and education path will go from here and I am embracing that, excited for change. For now, I am looking back on my most recent accomplishments and using those to fuel the courage I need to wherever I am going next.
Exactly one year ago, on this day, I wrote "Brew Your Success Carefully" talking about my intense but exciting first year at Walter Cronkite and illness probably brought on from stress. Without noticing the similarities at first, I named this one something almost identical. I am happy to say that despite this spring semester at Walter Cronkite being even more difficult, I aced my classes and managed to take steps to improve my health. In shock and ready to celebrate- I decided to throw a solo desert dance party.
The last few months, I ran around for Cronkite News from Downtown Phoenix, Nogales, to the complicated phone lines of the USCIS. If you were following along on social media during this crazy rampage you probably saw some of my work with CN. But you can also catch up by peeking at my “Published” page to see my articles here that were also picked up by many local publications. This round of classes was out to get every student I encountered, so I applaud them for making it through this rough semester.
In the meantime, I will be brewing potions- I mean plans and plotting something completely out of my comfort zone. In the spirit of my subtle witch puns, here are some incredible shots by the lovely Geneva Patterson. She captured this awkward string bean in a way I hadn’t viewed myself. In these photos I felt carefree and confident while dancing between saguaros and under drooping trees. Thank you, G, for these photos and thank you to those who gave me the push I needed these past few months. Cheers!
